TECHNICAL DATA MODEL No. ZMP-20e GEAR MEASURING PROCESSOR:
The quick access to and determination of normal known geometric values are important requisites for insuring the quality of the product in gear manufacturing. By the employment of the Gear Measuring Processor ZMP-20e,
these requisites can also be obtained by using already in place or readily available conventional mechanically driven gear checking/testing machines with maximum economic benefit.

The Gear Measuring Processor ZMP-20e replaces measuring, value-indicating,and charting systems of conventional mechanically driven gear checkers/testers of either spur and/or helical gears. Besides determination and acquisition of the measured values, the ZMP-20e offers and indicates the acquired measurements in analyzed DIN quality values (according to DIN-3960/62) and the collated/combined checking-testing results in tabular
and graphic form. This way less time is required for checking/testing and more objective evaluation is obtained. Also the efficiency of the available
checking-testing machines is substantially increased. Furthermore, the ZMP-20e can be interfaced with in-process work measuring functions on CNC gear machines.

The ZMP-20e is a measuring and measure value processing system designed and executed for the gear industry specifically. The systems consists of: - 32 bit industrial calculator Pro-Unit M-68EC030 CPU, 25MHz, 4MB 2XRS-232,
1X Centronics Interface, 16x24V. Digital In-and-Out-Ports for function control; - 3,5"/1.4 MB Diskette drive, 600 MB Hard drive; - All required interface modules for connecting 3 indicative sensor inputs and 2 incremental length measuring systems; - PC-AT Keyboard and 15" VGA color monitor for data input and display; - Lexmark Color printer for printing out checking and test data results and
measurements diagram;

ADAPTATION TO A MACHINE:
The common characteristic of all retro-fitted checking/testing machines is the mechanical method of development of values. A tester travels along a sine-bar (Involute, flank-profile or generating points), and detects
deviations from the correct geometry, by measurements in length along the sine-bar either directly or indirectly. By added index measuring means,index and/or out of round errors are determined. The ZMP-20e is already provided and delivered to accept a connection of the measuring and control systems and can be adapted with minimal modifications to a variety of checkers/testers. The mounting of the system on the machine is greatly
facilitated through integrated control and calibrating programs.

MEASURING AND OUTPUT DATA SOFTWARE:
The new program system ZMP-20e is based on a standard software program for cylindrical spur and helical gears, which has proven itself by simplicity of operation and highest reliability on variety of KLINGELNBERG Gear
Checkers/Testers in a large number of applications in the industry. It includes the following measuring and analytical outputs: - Determination of known dimensions for profile, Lead, Generation point, Index, Roundness, according to DIN 3960, ISO, AGMA; - Evaluation according to free tolerance values or quality-steps (grades) according to DIN 3962; - Determination of longitudinal and tip/root correction (crowning); - Optional evaluation of tolerances using templates (k-profile); - Single index or cumulative index values measurements; - Graphics representation of the measured curves in freely selected
scale-size on color CRT, Printer or Multicolor plotter;

The following program-functions permit short preparation and actual testing times: - Access to stored gear specifications and testing date in several registers, each with 400 data sets; - Direct call-up of display and setting functions through keyboard: - Calculation and display of machine settings; - In-put of measuring and evaluation paths; - Calculation and display of machine settings; - In-put of measuring and evaluation paths;
- On-line display of slide position and sensor positioning;
- Graphic display of measuring curve and position and stroke of sensor during the measuring data acquisition;
- Complete control of measuring process using a manual sensor on the testing apparatus; - Standard charting for the printer and/or plotter outputs;

STATISTICAL EVALUATION:
The SPC package makes it possible to supervise ongoing production. To properly evaluate capacity, it is necessary to know the actual time required to achieve the actual achieved data as well as have the analysis of quality
obtained on control-cards (Q-101) of the SPC.

FULL INSTALLATION:
The adaptation of the sensor systems and to be retro-fitted measuring scales and/or turning elements are and integral part of the GFM-System solutions.
In order to make it possible to quote (propose) retrofitting/adaptation of the system, it is sufficient to know the machines original manufacturer, type and model of the machine and type of sensor system used.
